Do You Want to Build a Snowman

Since we woke up to snow, Ciera and I were singing "Do You Want to Build a Snowman" from Frozen all morning.  She couldn't wait for Camden to get home from school so we could go build one.

Not liking the snowman's first head, Camden knocked it off so he could make a "tiny" one.  They also had a blast being pulled around the yard on their sleds.

Boinga! Boinga! Boinga!

I think my favorite Christmas present for the kids has been the trampoline.  They love to jump on it and often beg to go downstairs every day.  It's such a great energy release for them.  Camden loves to make up new games on it.  Ciera loves to just jump as high and as wild as she can, usually accompanied with, "Boinga!  Boinga!  Boinga!"

Once There Wasn't a Snowman

Both Camden and Ciera have wanted to build a snowman all winter long.  We went out after two different snowstorms to build one, but the snow just didn't pack together well.  They keep asking when it will finally snow again, so we can try again.  Today, I just said, "How about we make a little indoor one instead."  They were happy with that - at least for now.

Science Fair

Lakeshore Learning had a free science fair on Saturday.  The kids had more fun than I expected at all the different tables.  Some of the favorites were the lemon battery, the erupting volcano, and the magnet table.

They have had fun the last couple of days dropping the parachute people they made at the Science Fair over our railing.  Hopefully they realize this doesn't give them a carte blanche to throw whatever they want over, a problem we have had in the past.

We also tried recreating the lemon battery at home experimenting with different food - a clementine, a potato, and an apple.  They all powered the clock, but the clementine was the weakest.

Train Show

We went to the Train Show at Thanksgiving Point a few years ago and decided to try it again this year.  There were more trains and lots of lego displays this time, but there was also considerably more people.  Many times we were at a stand still with no where to move.  The kids weren't bothered by the traffic jams like I was, they were too transfixed by the trains.  Camden's favorite train display was the one where he got to find all the things wrong with the surrounding town (dinosaur on a roof or a road running into a bush etc.).  He also really liked looking at all the lego displays.

My Camel

I found them roaming around the house like this.  Camden told me they were being a camel.

Ciera's Pony

Here's Ciera doing one of her favorite things while waiting for her breakfast.  She loves her pony and is frequently riding around on it.

Painting the Snow

I gave the kids squirt bottles filled with a mixture of food coloring and water to paint the snow with.  I saw it in the FamilyFun magazine and knew they would love it.  They had a blast spraying patterns onto the snow.  Camden liked spraying inside random holes pretending he was filling bowls with different flavors of ice cream.  Once we were back inside, Ciera came up to me and said, "I had fun painting the snow.  It was terrific!"

Kangaroo Zoo

Camden and Ciera love to go to Kangaroo Zoo.  Jumping, sliding, climbing, what's not to love?  Ciera was Camden's little shadow.  Once he went to a different bounce house, she was quick to follow.

My Little Fairy

Ciera scored and ended up with two fairy costumes for Christmas.  She adores both of them and will even wear both in one day.  She loves to dress up as a fairy, then "fly" and dance around.  Camden is sweet and will even play along with her.  Although when he does, the fairy wands turn into lightsabers and they start dueling.  I have to stop that, because I've repaired one of the wands just too many times now!
