Father's Day

For part of Camden's homemade card to Dad, he answered this questionnaire:

Book Buddies

We took books, blankets, snacks, and treats out to their playhouse.  They had a blast bundling up in blankets (it was chilly today) and cuddling up with a book.  Sometimes Camden and I took turns reading out loud to everyone and sometimes we each read books to ourselves.  They didn't want to stop and said we should do this everyday.

Camden pulled these faces on purpose.  He wanted these pictures put on the blog.

Happy Face

This is Ciera's "happy face."  Whenever we say smile or show us your happy face, this is usually what she does. 

Tracy Aviary

We went to Tracy Aviary since it was a half-price admission day for us.  They both loved feeding the ducks and geese.  Camden said his favorite bird was the condor.  I think that was influenced by the Condor close encounter show we watched there.   He was able to watch it eat food and observe how big its wing span is as it flew around.  Ciera said her favorite bird was the toucan.  One of her favorite books right now is The Water Hole by Graeme Base, and the toucan is featured on one its pages.  She also loved any water feature that was there.

Bugs and Bubbles

We bought some ladybugs to help control the aphids on our crab apple tree, plum tree, and roses.  While we were waiting for the sun to sink lower in the sky to let them out, we blew and chased bubbles.  The kids love to do this, especially Ciera.  It's absolutely devastating to her when she asks for bubbles and we say not right now. 

Once we let the ladybugs out, the kids had so much fun trying to get them to crawl around on their hands.  Ciera would get frustrated when trying to get them to crawl onto her finger and they would just crawl away.  We also had to stop her from pinching them from off the ground and unwittingly squishing them.

Baking Beauties

Camden was being silly and cute while we were making dinner for our neighbors.  Ciera kept saying things like, "mix it, mix it" and "I do it."  She loves to mix things.  Whenever her meal has something she can mix, she gets so excited and says, "I'm mixing it!"

Grandpa and Grandma's

When we went to give Grandpa his birthday gift, we brought our soccer ball and goal.  They have a large, flat grassy area, making it easier to kick the ball around.  We had the goal sitting under their Globe Willow tree.  The picture of Ciera below shows her looking at it with trepidation.  I wish I had got a picture of her ducking down while looking up at the tree every time she tried to make a goal.  She was afraid it was going to get her.  At one point, she even ran back out crying, because Darren was moving one of the branches like it was alive.  Poor girl.  We always have a hard time leaving if they haven't had a chance to spend time on their playground.  Ciera loves the airplane.
