Rainy Day Fun

Camden saw this little experiment on how salty blue seawater becomes fresh clear rainwater in the click magazine for April and asked to do it.  We made some "ocean" water by adding a little blue food coloring and salt to some water.  After heating it in the microwave, we put another smaller bowl in the big one making sure not to get any of the blue water in it.  Then we covered it with plastic wrap.  After 20-30 minutes, we watched it "rain" into the little bowl.

Once there was a bit of water in the small bowl, I took it out and let them taste both waters.  Camden was impressed how the "rainwater" was clear and not at all salty like the "ocean" water.
